About Maria

Listening for meaning

When it comes to life design, I’m a believer in walking the talk.

I’ve been deeply curious about the human journey since I was very young—which is why I advocate for both coaching and therapy and use both in my personal life. I find they are friends, not antagonists, in achieving holistic understanding and empowering outcomes for creating lives we love.

I honor every person’s right to stand and live their own life.

I’m also passionate about understanding the socio-political and structural machines of oppression and regulation that can lead to suffering and inequality in people’s lives. I honor the hearts of those who have experienced such oppression and speak up on their behalf.

With my clients, I start with deep listening.

As their experience comes into view for me, I use words, body awareness, and metaphor to capture and share my understanding of this moment in time. Together we observe what’s arisen, like taking a photo and then stepping back to see what’s in the frame.

Using this method, clients gain words to talk about their lived experiences and a new perspective on a stuck issue.

Sometimes they find new choices or freedom available that weren’t in view before. The moment the client says “Yes, that’s it!” is when the light in their eyes ignites, and our work becomes fully alive.

I hope to do this for you.

“What stands out the most is how Maria was able to listen to my tone of voice and read the deeper meaning behind it—something I couldn’t have done myself…Her ability to ask the right questions to focus my mind was also excellent.”
